Task
Change the shape of an outline
Move, add and remove the points of an outline or a line — before you save it, or on a saved finding with Apply.
FindMeasurementsEdit shape
The same three gestures work on every outline and line: drag a point to move it, click the outline to add a point, double-click a point to remove it. Every new or moved point lands on the surface of the model.
To change an outline you have not saved
Section titled “To change an outline you have not saved”A new outline is open for shaping as soon as you close it.
-
Shape the outline:
To Do this Move a point Drag it Add a point Click the outline between two points. Or press on the outline and drag, to add a point and place it in one move Remove a point Double-click it. Or click it, and then press Delete or Backspace Undo or redo a change to this outline Ctrl+Z or Ctrl+Y The figures follow the outline as you change it. A volume, a 3D defect or a depth profile must be measured again: click the measure button in the panel.
-
When you have finished, click Done shaping, or press Esc.
An outline keeps at least 3 points, and a line at least 2.
To change a saved outline
Section titled “To change a saved outline”Changing a saved finding happens on a working copy. Nothing is written until you click Apply. You need the Inspector or Admin role.
-
Select the finding: click its pin, or its card in the Observations panel.
-
In the Measurement panel, click Edit shape.
Apply and Cancel replace the other buttons.
-
Shape the outline with the gestures above.
The panel says “Edited, not applied” while the outline on the screen differs from the stored one.
-
Do one of the following:
- Click Apply — or Apply & re-measure for a volume, a 3D defect or a depth profile — or press Enter, to write the new outline. The server measures it again.
- Click Cancel, or press Esc, to put the stored outline back. Nothing is written.
To put a saved outline back to an earlier position
Section titled “To put a saved outline back to an earlier position”Each time a saved outline’s points move, the previous position is kept — the last 5 positions in all. Restoring one needs the Inspector or Admin role, and withdraws a sign-off like any other change.
-
Select the finding.
-
In the Measurement panel, under Point history, find the row you want.
Each row says which points moved and when, and what the finding measured before — for example, “Area was 4.32 m²”.
-
Click Restore on that row.
The outline returns to that position and is measured again. The move it undid stays in the history.
