Save a measurement

Keep a measurement in the project's records, either at once under an automatic title or with a severity, a category and notes.

FindMeasurementsSave

A measurement that you have not saved exists only in your browser. Saving it makes it a finding: it gets a number (OBS-…), your colleagues can see it, and it can be signed off and reported.

  • The measurement is finished: the line or outline is closed.
  • A volume, a 3D defect or a depth profile has been measured. Save stays unavailable until it has, because what is saved is the figure you have seen.
  • No finding form is open.
  1. Select the measurement.

  2. In the Measurement panel, click Save.

The measurement is saved under an automatic title, such as “Area 1.24 m²”, with the view on the screen as its saved view. Its number appears on the model.

  1. In the Measurement panel, click Add observation.

The Save measurement form opens, with a suggested title and the measured figures already in Engineering assessment.

  2. Complete the form, and then click Save. See Record a finding from a measurement.

  • The finding is a draft until someone signs it off. See Sign off a finding.
  • To add details later, select the measurement and click Edit details, or click Edit on its card.
  • The figures are stored with the finding. They are not recalculated when you open it later.
