Record a finding at a point

Place a finding at one point on the structure and describe what you observed there.

FindMeasurePoint observation

Use a point finding for something that has a location but no size to measure — a damp patch, a missing joint seal, a corroded fixing. To record a size, record the finding from a measurement instead.

  1. Move the view so that the place is clearly visible.

  2. On the toolbar, click Measure ▸ Point observation.

  3. Click the place on the model.

The New observation form opens, and the tool returns to Navigate. The view at the moment of your click is saved with the finding, so you can move the view while you type.

  4. In Title, enter a short name — for example “Damp patch below drain, block 14”.

  5. Complete the other fields as needed. See Finding fields and values.

  6. Click Save.

The form closes. A pin with the finding’s number (OBS-…) appears on the model, and the finding appears in the Observations panel, marked draft.

  • To record another point finding, click Measure ▸ Point observation again.
  • While the form is open you can move the view and draw measurements for comparison. A measurement drawn while a form is open is a reference only: it is not saved with the finding, and it is cleared when the form closes.
