Task
Change what an outline measures
Measure the same points as something else — an area as a volume or a 3D defect, a line as a depth profile or a section — without drawing them again.
FindMeasurementsMeasure as
The question is chosen after the shape. If you drew an area and then want the missing concrete inside it, you do not need to trace it again.
To change what a measurement measures

The shape is You can choose A closed outline Area, Volume, 3D defect A line Distance; and, for a line of exactly two points, Depth profile or Section The points stay where they are. The panel changes to the new type.
-
For a volume, a 3D defect or a depth profile, click the measure button in the panel — for example Measure volume — to measure it.
A choice that is greyed out is not possible for this shape. Hold the pointer over it to read why.
On a saved finding
Section titled “On a saved finding”You need the Inspector or Admin role. The change is made on a working copy:
- Click the new type under Measure as.
- Click Apply & re-measure to write it, or Cancel to keep the stored type.
A saved finding cannot become a section, because a section is a way of viewing the model rather than a measurement. Use Cut the twin along this section on a depth profile instead.
