View the source photographs of a point

Find the capture photographs that show a point on the structure, and examine the sharpest of them.

FindPhotosPick point

The model’s surface is an average of many photographs. When you need to see a crack or a stain in full detail, look at the photographs themselves.

  1. On the toolbar, click Photos.

The Source photographs strip opens along the bottom of the window.

  2. In the strip, click Pick point.

  3. Click the point on the model.

The strip shows the photographs that see the point, sharpest first. Each card has a dot on the point and a caption such as “0.8 mm/px · 12° · 9.4 m”.

  4. To look at another point, click it. Pick point stays armed until you click it again or press Esc.

  1. Click a photograph in the strip.

The photograph opens in a pane over the view. Two thin lines cross at the point you picked.

  2. Turn the mouse wheel to zoom in on the point, and drag to pan.

  3. Press → or ← to compare the other photographs of the same point.

  4. To return the 3D view to where this photograph was taken from, click Sync 3D view.

The pane closes and the view flies to the camera position, framed as the pane was.

  5. To close the photograph without moving the view, click ✕ or press Esc.
