Mark the location of an instrument
Place a mark on the structure where a monitoring instrument is installed — a piezometer, a crackmeter, a survey point — with its tag and type.
FindInstruments+ Place
An instrument mark records where an instrument is and what type it is. It carries no reading: instrument data stays in your monitoring system.
Anyone can open the Instruments panel and see the marks. Placing and removing marks needs the Inspector or Admin role.
To mark an instrument
Section titled “To mark an instrument”-
On the toolbar, click Instruments.
The Instruments panel opens on the right and lists the instruments already marked.
-
In the panel’s header, click + Place.
-
Click the instrument’s location on the model.
The Place instrument form opens.
-
In Type, select the type of instrument.
A line under the list says what that type measures.
-
In Tag, enter the instrument’s tag — for example PZ-04. A tag is required.
-
Optionally, enter a Note.
-
Click Place.
A symbol for the type appears on the model at the point, and the instrument is added to the list.
+ Place stays armed, so that you can mark a row of instruments one click each. To stop, click Cancel on the form or click + Place again.
