The Measurement panel
The panel on the left that shows the figures for the selected measurement, and every control in it for measuring, shaping, saving and deleting.
FindMeasurements
The panel opens by itself when you draw or select a measurement. To open or close it yourself, click Measurements on the toolbar. Every figure in it is described in Measurement results.
Header
Section titled “Header”| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Title | While you draw: Line or Outline and the number of points. Afterwards: the measurement’s name — for example “OBS-012 · Area” for a saved one |
| Explain | Shows a plain-language sentence under every figure, and the method notes. The figures do not change. Off by default |
| ‹ | Collapses the panel to a thin bar on the left edge |
Figures
Section titled “Figures”The rows depend on what was measured: a line shows Length, an outline shows Perimeter and Area, and both show the elevations and slopes. A volume, a 3D defect and a depth profile add their own rows above or below these. A warning beside the figures names anything that limits them — for example, an outline with points on the wrong surface.
What do these figures mean? opens a small diagram of which side of the reference each volume figure describes.
Measure as
Section titled “Measure as”Shown once a line or an outline is finished. It changes what the same points are measured as, without drawing them again:
| Shape | Choices |
|---|---|
| Closed outline | Area, Volume, 3D defect |
| Line | Distance, Depth profile, Section — the last two only for a line of exactly two points |
A choice that is not possible says why when you hold the pointer over it. See Change what an outline measures.
Volume, missing concrete or depth profile
Section titled “Volume, missing concrete or depth profile”For these three, the panel adds a block with:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Against | Volume only: the base surface the volume is measured against. See Volume base surfaces |
| Altitude (m) | Volume with Flat custom (horizontal) only: the height of the level, in metres |
| ? | Opens the illustrated comparison of the base surfaces, the 3D defect reference and the depth profile |
| Measure volume (Measure defect, Measure depth profile) | Runs the measurement on the model. Reads Measuring… while it runs, and Re-measure once a figure exists. Not shown for a saved measurement, which is measured again when you apply a change |
Point history
Section titled “Point history”Shown for a saved measurement whose points have been moved. Each row says which points moved, when, and what the measurement read before. Restore puts the outline back to that position and measures it again. The last 5 positions are kept.
Actions
Section titled “Actions”| Button | When it is shown | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Save | An unsaved measurement | Stores the measurement under its own automatic title. Unavailable until the figure is measured |
| Add observation | An unsaved measurement | Opens the Save measurement form, so you can add a severity, a category and notes |
| Edit details | A saved measurement | Opens the finding form for this measurement |
| Edit shape | A finished outline or line | Opens the points for editing: drag a point to move it, click the outline to add one, double-click a point to remove it. Reads Done shaping while you shape a new outline |
| Apply, Apply & re-measure | While you shape a saved measurement | Writes the new shape in one change. A volume, a 3D defect or a depth profile is measured again on the server |
| Cancel | While you shape a saved measurement | Puts back the shape as it is stored. Nothing is written |
| Update Fly-to view | A saved measurement | Replaces the view that the measurement flies back to with the view on the screen |
| Delete | Any measurement | Discards an unsaved measurement, or deletes a saved one (see Delete a finding) |
| Clear all | Always, at the foot of the panel | Discards every unsaved measurement. Saved measurements are not affected |
Section plane
Section titled “Section plane”For a section, the panel has no figures. It says which half of the model is hidden and offers Flip which half is hidden, Cut again along these points and Clear the section. See Cut the model with a section plane.
